2006, 1.5, and a 12-pack.

Welcome to untitledlife 1.5. If you’re not reading this via a RSS feed, you’ve probably noticed some changes to the site (if you are, come check out what I’m talking about — it’ll make what you’re about to read make a lot more sense).

untitledlife is just over six months old and it is time make some changes (and hopefully a few improvements, too). They include (but are not limited to):

  • Ads – Yup. They’ve arrived. I hope to make a buck or two to help support the costs associated with untitledland.
  • Layout – It’s wider to accomodate the ads and to allow for more content. The site looks best at a resolution 1024 x 768 or greater.
  • del.icio.us Clickables – Some folks call them Remaindered Links and others call them Asides. Here at untitledlife we’ve decided to incorporate a del.icio.us account to act as our link repository. So, del.icio.us + untitledlife = del.icio.us Clickables. They’re links to stuff that I find interesting, helpful, and/or humorous.

There are a few other minor changes, but nothing really worth noting. If you run into any glitches, problems, or you would like to voice your opinion(s), you can use the comments or e-mail me.

If you’re wondering how the 12-pack fits in to all this, I’m going to go share one with untitledhusband now. Happy New Year, friends.

  1. puke. hurts my eyes to read; everything is so goddamn busy looking. ads on the sides aren’t bad, but i abhor the ones underneath your posts.

  2. I like it, so much to look at 🙂 Most folks don’t care for that I reckon. I like the clickables, and the buttons on top to click.

Are the ads able to follow your color schemes and posts? I have that on Blogger so it blends well.

  3. Also, I’m viewing this on Mozilla/Firefox browser. When first pop on the site it has a color problem. At first, it’s all that green then it positions itself to how it’s supposed to be.

  4. Thank you Piglet! I can change the color schemes of the ads (less so with Google than with Adbrite). The ads will change depending on the content. Google seems to be faster/more accurate at doing so. Obviously my blog isn’t about any targeted topic, so I’m sure it will be entertaining to watch which ads show up via Google. Now, even Google knows that we’re battling fertility issues and assumes you all might be too.

We’ll look into the Firefox thing, Piglet. I think it has something to do with the order and speed in which the graphics are loading. We’ll see if we can’t figure out something better.

  5. Hey untitled. I applaud the site. I never understood the whole negative idea surrounding ads on a blog. I put them on mine [horribly…I have not an ounce of design potential…I gotta get someone on that for me…] because of the sole reason that I love to write, so why not make some cash off of it? I mean, authors get cash for books, and no one rips on them for ‘selling out’ or anything. So good for you.

I would say, though, that I agree with Laura about the text ad beneath your post. I say keep the ads in either the sidebar, as a footer, or a header. Not in the meat of the post.

Other than that, great! Keep up the great writing. Oh, and Happy New Year to you, untitledhusband, and untitledson!
